Jiyan Pattharwala

An architect by training and a systems thinker by practice, Jiyan leads BZC’s work across high-performance buildings, net-zero strategy, ESG integration and regenerative development.

With over eight years of experience, he has delivered some of India’s most technically advanced climate-aligned projects, including the highest-rated IGBC Platinum certified office and residence, Gujarat’s first Net Zero Energy industrial facility and India’s first certified Green Special Economic Zone.
​
He holds a Master of Engineering Leadership in High-Performance Buildings from the University of British Columbia, is a recipient of the Aga Khan Foundation International Scholarship and is internationally accredited as a LEED AP, WELL AP, IGBC AP, SEA and IFC EDGE Expert, Auditor and Faculty.
His expertise spans energy modelling, life-cycle assessment, carbon analytics, passive design and integrated design leadership. Beyond professional practice, he serves as Director of Sustainability and Community Engagement at Surat Van Foundation, leading science-based urban climate initiatives and contributing to civic and educational efforts.

An engineer by training and a practitioner by experience, Mohammed leads BZC’s work across low-carbon buildings, net-zero planning, energy performance optimisation and sustainability delivery for complex, real-world projects.​

With over seven years of experience, he has led the delivery of certified green buildings, carbon-neutral facilities and large-scale sustainability programs across residential, commercial, institutional and industrial developments, including advanced IGBC and EDGE-certified projects and net-zero events.​
​
He is globally accredited as an IGBC AP, LEED GA, EDGE Expert, BEE Certified Energy Manager, GRIHA CP, TRUE Advisor, ActiveScore AP, and is a CII Certified Professional in Sustainable Waste Management.​
​
His expertise spans HVAC and passive design optimisation, energy and daylight simulation, carbon footprinting, net-zero planning and operational efficiency. Beyond professional practice, he contributes to urban ecological restoration through Miyawaki forest initiatives with the Surat Van Foundation, supporting science-based, community-driven climate action.

A specialist in spatial data and climate systems, Binoy brings an analytical foundation to BZC’s corporate sustainability and reporting work, integrating data-driven insights with strategic sustainability frameworks.

A graduate of the University of Waterloo with Honours in Geomatics, and with a specialisation in climate change, Binoy combines expertise in GIS, spatial analysis and climate data to support evidence-based sustainability decision-making for organisations.​
He is a Certified Sustainability Reporting Manager and has completed the United Nations Global Compact Climate Ambition Accelerator Program, strengthening his expertise across climate commitments, target-setting and corporate disclosures.

Having started his career as a sustainability consultant, Binoy now leads BZC’s corporate sustainability practice, overseeing ESG reporting, climate strategy and sustainability communications. His work focuses on translating complex data into clear, credible narratives that support regulatory compliance, stakeholder engagement and long-term organisational accountability.
